What Does Blog Mean?
"For Website Newbies..Find Out The Answer to 'What Does Blog Mean?'.."
What does blog mean?
A client of mine asked me that yesterday.
She had questions about why people read blogs, how to start a blog, and what Twitter was.
I'm not making fun of her for not knowing -- I actually enjoying teaching people. That's part of the fun of being an internet marketer.
For those of you just learning about some of these terms, you're in the right place.
We're going to make this the most basic introduction to building a website and/or starting a blog, so that you'll be able to duplicate the steps and get started today.
Step #1 in How to Start a Blog
Let's first define blog.
A blog is sort of an online journal, sometimes called weblog. The author of a blog can create posts/pages on any subject.
They might talk about their family, their business, their hobbies, even sports and politics.
Generally, blog journals have specific themes, but they don't have to. You'll even find some that jump from topic to topic continuously.
So, in short, your blog can be about whatever you feel like writing about.
Step #2 in How to Start a Blog
Step two in creating a blog is to pick the free service you'll use. (If you are a novice website builder, this is the best way to get started).
Take a look at the following 2 websites quickly.
These both provide blog templates that you'll have some control over in terms of your design.
Both options have very similar functions and differ mostly in their visual presentation.
Pick one, create your registration, and you'll be started in just a short while.
Step #3 in How to Start a Blog
Step #3 contains some "advanced" information that you may or may not decide to use.
Part of the reason that many people create blogs is to promote products or services of their own or that have been designed by others to earn an affiliate income.
Since it can be very difficult to say, "Hey, nice to meet you. Did you buy my stuff yet?", many people choose to stay in contact with their audience by using an email service.
Autoresponders and messaging systems like GetResponse.com and AWeber allow visitors to opt-in, join your email list, and hear from you again.
If you plan on promoting affiliate programs or your own products, you'll definitely want to take a look at some of the available link building tools.
Great luck starting your blog!
Committed to your success,
David I. Bohmiller, President
